Dr. Craig R. Blum is our Vice President of Quality Management. He has been a Consulting Associate since 1999 and has over 25 years of experience serving the private and public sectors of behavioral health care in various clinical, educational, consulting, and accreditation settings. His experience as a Joint Commission surveyor reviewing over 300 separate facilities across the behavioral healthcare spectrum (i.e., mental health, substance abuse, developmental disabilities, and others) has given him a strong grounding in a variety of clinical, programmatic, administrative, performance improvement, training, and regulatory approaches.
During this same period, he has been involved in a large number of consultative efforts in preparing organizations for licensure and accreditation, as well as in assessing state-directed service delivery systems. In these efforts, he built upon his already extensive experience in direct service delivery in a variety of private, public, and individual settings as a psychologist and administrator in New Jersey. He had previously worked as a counselor in a variety of settings in New York. He has taught at a variety of colleges and universities in various states, primarily in programs preparing counselors and psychologists at the graduate level. He currently teaches at several online universities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Blum has published a number of co-authored articles in professional journals, and has extensive training and teaching experience in research, program evaluation, statistics, and clinical theory and practice. He also has had extensive experience in various career and vocational services and programs.
Dr. Blum specializes in the planning, management, and improvement of multidisciplinary services to mental health, substance abuse, developmental disability, and other clinical populations. He has a broad knowledge of models and strategies required for effective program operation, specifically in translating management performance improvement concepts into active staff, department, and facility operations. Dr. Blum received his PhD in Educational and Counseling Psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo and his MS in Rehabilitation Counseling at Syracuse University.
